Back in the States!

Jun 19 2009

For those of you who haven’t heard, I’m back in the States and loving every minute of it.

During my time in New Zealand, I learned a lot about the wine industry, and a lot about myself as well. There are some things that you just can’t learn in a classroom, and I think learning who you are, and what you’ve been put here to do are a couple of those very things.

While lounging about on my last few days down under, I applied for jobs like mad back here in the states, in Oregon, mainly the Portland area, looking for a job to come back to. Sure, I had a little walking around money from working for three months, but it wouldn’t last me until this harvest back up here at Stoller Vineyards.

Stumbling the endless pages of Craigslist, I found one advertising for a photographer position, and as you may already be aware of, I’m trying to be a photographer (professionally) so this was a no brainer. I applied for the position, and within a couple of days, I had heard back from the company saying that they’d love to have me on the team, to shoot for them.

I am now employed by an interior design, and remodeling company. I shoot the before, during, and after project photos, and have recently been told they’ll be the basis for a new site they’re working on. Talk about publicity, eh?

Needless to say, I’m pretty stoked about that. I work for them for a few days a week shooting, and putting together groups of photos for them to use on their site (I’ll post a link when they release the new version). I’ve also just found out that one of my photos from New Zealand is *most likely* going to be used for a travel guide. Once again, great way to get my name out there.

Like they say, I guess you can really have what you want as long as you work for it – and I guess a little luck comes into play. I’m truly greatful for the opportunity that the management at PBS Design Group LLC have given me. It’s so hard to get a job out there these days, and especially one like this.

So, for shots of that, head over to the “Work” tab, up at the top to check out some of the places I’ve shot thus far. I’ll be updating it periodically, so check back in for new and drop-dead gorgeous interior design ideas! Haha…

I’ll check y’all on the flip side!

Ciao!
